Ancestral Call

A four week online class learning several Sean nós (old style) Irish songs. The songs that our ancestors would’ve sung in their own tongue, together next to a fire, heads bowed. One voice cuts into the silence, crooning the melody. The story is alive in the voice as it sings in all of it's raw splendor. This is the way we used to live. Let’s reinvigorate this way together.

We will meet on four consecutive Tuesdays in November 2025.

Class begins
Tuesday, Nov 4th,
5:30-6:30 PST

    Who is this for?

This class is for any human being that feels called to Irish Singing.

Maybe you don't consider yourself a singer at all but something happens to you when you hear it.

If you're wanting to connect more with the Irish language, the songs are a gateway into this world.

Whether you'd like to feel closer to the land where your ancestors walked, feel the words they uttered on your own tongue, learn a few songs to bring into your daily rituals, or enrich yourself in the lively world of Celtic mysticism, these songs will become a new friend.

    Who is Anne?

Anne Walsh is a singer, soul friend, voice guide, Irish Song Carrier, poet, and professional goof,

With a background in classical singing, her artful somatic approach to technique lays a foundation for clients to experience play, vocal finesse, reprogramming of beliefs surrounding the voice, and cultivates deep listening for a more expressed vocal lifestyle.

Her work with clients goes beyond opening the voice. Together you discover and play with what's underneath the voice fueling it.

Anne has been performing, teaching, and coaching, and artfully weaving a life that encompasses all of her "branches" for 15 years. She opened her own coaching studio as a vocal coach upon moving to Los Angeles in 2017. Anne currently resides in Topanga, CA.

    What will you learn?

Each week we will focus on learning one song, as well as the story, context, and folklore that accompanies the song.

By the end of the four weeks you will know two-three different Sean nós Irish songs.

There will be opportunities to come off of mute and share your voice in each class, but this is optional.

We will work with the vessel and learn how to use our instrument to tell stories, to get out of the way and let the music sing us.

This lineage and these songs have been taught and passed to me by my teacher, Mary Mclaughlin. I am honored to have received her blessing to carry the songs forward and to teach them.
